it's been a long time

I had a great weekend. Went to a protest on saturday in Hyde Park and marched with about 75,000 other people against the war in Iraq and possible war in Iran. Erin took pictures, but I haven't gotten a hold of them yet.
On Sunday we went to Mme. Tussauds. Here's some pictures of me hanging out with
first we met some celebrities. They were shiny.

(this one's for katie because I know how she loves charlie)

Then we met some politicians

I'm saying "What the fuck, Saddam?"

But there was no getting through to Mr. Bush

then we finished up our trip and spent some time with some geniuses and public figures

(Dickens)

and this one is quite possibly my favorite

we both look so happy

By the way, facebook sucked until it reunited me with a long lost playground partner.

On Saturday I saw Ted Leo and the Pharmacists with donna. They brought the mosh in a figurative sort of way. Then we ate ice cream and slept.
And yesterday we went to the Tate Modern and did our best to appreciate some art. I think I'm ognna go back today or tomorrow because it was really crowded and we didn't see that much.
In other news I've decided to stop being so grumpy about things and try to have a better time here. so this morning I did a dance and sang a song in the shower to liven myself up. so far so good.

Hello all
here's a list of things I've purchased within the last 24 hours:
ticket to see The Mars Volta
ticket to see Mates of State
and plane tickets to Prague and back
I am so cool it's almost unbelievable.

in other news I'm reading Angela's Ashes which I recommend although I'm beginning to think I'm the last person on earth to read it. Today I went to go to this event at the Victoria and Albert museum about activism and such but it was cancelled. so I spent £4 and travelled on an uncomfortably crowded tube for nothing. Actually when the tube is crowded at all it's uncomfortable because I am small and usually end up with my face in someone's back or armpit.
le sigh.

So last night deserves to be
Donna comes to our flat at around 7:30 and we head off to Camden town to see the Velveteen, feat. Casey from chico band the Americas on the drums. We get to camden and find the venue relatively easily. We pay for our tickets (but donna spots me because the tickets were £10 instead of £8 like I'd planned on) and head down to check out the bands. But we notices something seems a bit off. There are grungy punk rockers filling up the bar and we sign up for the mailing list of this band called Towers of London, which none of us have heard of. So we ask mailing-list lady who else is on the bill tonight and it turns out the Velveteen are not playing at Mr. £10 show.
These guys tell us they think the Velveteen might be playing down the street. but the bouncer won't give us in-out priviliges. so donna goes to check it out and come back. erin buys a beer. Like 20 mins later I go rendevous with donna who tells me that the velveteen show just sold out but she got the last ticket. So we made a plan to meet after the show.
Erin and I decide to check out the punk rock we paid £10 for and are pleasantly surprised. We saw this all girl band the SufraJets and they rocked our brains. Erin got more beer, I got a soda. While this transaction was taking place i met this really drunk student radio dude who had interviewed Towers of London. He was drunk and happy to talk to me, but I don't think we talked about anything of interest. Then, lo and behold, Donna shows up behind us at the bar.
It turns out the Velveteen was not at that show either. But donna saw a sign that said The Good Life show had moved to the Garage. Donna seems to remember thatThe Good Life is who the Velvetten was touring with so we get directions to the Garage (or Gare-age like they say) from a drunk girl. w decide to check it out after the beer has been drunk and towers of London has played.
So we go to the stage area to watch towers of London. Oh, Lord. They were quite a band. they were this combination of 70's hair metal and punk rock. And the lead singer had a shirt that said "You're Not God" and he kept saying "see my shirt?! you're not God, I am!!!!" it was awesome. So they rocked us straight into headaches and we decided to find the Gare-age.
A quick trip on the tube and we find it. And the Velveteen is there!!! the bouncr lady tells us to run around back and find their band. first we found a van with and old man who was adament that he was not the Velveteen. Then we found them, but Casey was not in the van. so donna goes into the venue to find Casey and Erin and I go into the bar. another beer is consumed. donna finds casey, we find them and all is well in the world. We wait and talk to this very excited good life street teamer while they load up their van. then Erin, donna, Casey and I head to this late night pub and chat it up for a while. The pub closes and we head home.
but, no, the story isn't over yet. We can't firgure out how to get home. the tube has closed so we need a night bus. But we have no idea what night buses will take us home. After a long time of confusion, including one moment where I made everyone get off the bus only to realize we shouldn't have, we decided to get a cab. We got home had some hummus, set up casey and donna on the couch and fell asleep.
Oh and there was a crazy french girl who danced for a cigarette. And a dog. And the lead singer of the Velveteen was trashed.

London is a mad house.

So I have pictures. aren't you
here are some pictures of the flat.

skidz! At the Museum of London in the mock Victorian era downtown.

a while ago we went to the Museum of London which rocks hardcorelike. It provides almost a complete history of London from bce to 1950. and there was a great fashion exhibit.

marsha and i in the fashion exhibit. My hat and coat have buttons all over them. they are boss.

Yesterday we went to Stratford, Shakespeare's birthplace/hometown. We didn't have much time there to wander around as we had tickets to a showing of Two Gentlemen of Verona, but it was still fun. I'm hoping to go back and visit his grave sometime.

the front of his childhood home.

me writing sonnets in his backyard.

the girls and I in his backyard. We were going to act out julius caeser for the picture, but we got bored of that idea by the time we could find someone to take the picture for us.

the river avon, hence stratford on avon. the english countryside is gorgeous.

Today I will hopefully be getting my hairs cut so maybe more pictures later.

So stuff has been happening. I went to the Tower of london and saw the crown jewels. and Erin turned 21 and fitz bought me a pint. which is all pretty exciting.
I also finally read the Da vinci code and I think I'm going to to westminster abbey soon I've been here too long to have not seen it yet. and then I'm going to go to the Louvre and find the holy grail.
things are going better, I'm getting adjusted to living here. erin's birthday was great fun, lots of nice fun people and good conversation.
I guess that is all.

Feeling much better today. I went to the british museum a little while ago. It's HUGE!! i saw the rosetta Stone and the Law of Hammurabi and a bunch of Buddhas, and naked greek people in statue form. It's really great because the museum is free and a block away from my flat so I can go there whenever I want and wander around.
My first class starts in an hour so I'm going to go get some caffeine (I know it's bad for my throat but necessary in order to stay awake) and food.
London is lovely when you feel less sick and less lonely.
